Children and youth are always welcome in our worship service. We want them to feel at home and safe at Faith Church as they learn what it means to be a Christian. We believe children and youth are an important part of our community and we find every possible way for them to participate. They serve as acolytes, read the scripture lessons, help with hospitality, assist in the classroom, help in the altar guild and more!
A significant body of research indicates that children and young adults who participate in worship alongside their parents are more likely to continue with regular spiritual worship practices as adults. Click this link to learn more.
See below for more details about Sunday programs and seasonal programs.
Children’s Worship Cubby
Inside the sanctuary, you will find an attractive cubby filled with Christian based activities for your child to use during the worship service. The materials provided allow a child to quietly explore Bible stories and to engage in liturgical play while observing how adults worship. Please help your child choose an activity or two and take it to your seat. You can quietly exchange materials as needed during the service and be sure to leave things neat and tidy when the service is over.
Nursery and Toddler Care
On Sunday mornings at the 10:00 a.m. service, children from newborn up through age 4 are cared for by trained childcare providers. Age-appropriate Bible stories are shared and explored together and children enjoy free-play in our Noah’s Ark themed room. The Nursery opens at 9:30 a.m. and children can stay until the end of the service.
Christian Formation – Sunday School (September through May)
Disciples Class for children age 4 to 3rd grade
AFTER CHURCH ACTIVITIES
Cookies and snacks provided after morning services. There is an enclosed play area for children through 3rd grade and toys for lawn play for older children. There is a basketball playing area to the side of the church. The library and back patio/basketball court are designed for Youth Hangout for students in grades 7-12.
Youth in grades 7 through 12 have many ways to participate at Faith Church including Sunday School, Hangout (after the 10 a.m. service), Youth Band, Dinner Group, and youth gatherings multiple times per month, usually on Sunday evenings. In addition, young people are encouraged to participate in worship by joining a Sunday Ministry where they can learn leadership skills, be mentored by adults and contribute to the worship service, for example, video/sound team, readers, acolyte, usher, greeter, altar guild, and more.
Special activities are offered during summer and seasons of the church such as Lent, Easter, Christmas, Advent, Pentecost Etc. Check our Facebook site or the website homepage for more details.
The safety of children during their church experience is very important to us. All teachers are required to have been actively attending Faith Church for at least six months, provide personal references, have a criminal background check, and attend a training class on the awareness and prevention of child abuse. Our church building has been designed with child safety and parent comfort in mind; all our rooms have glass panels to the hallway. Parents are encouraged to drop in and observe a class at any time.
