Church History

In the fall of 1991 a small group of people began meeting, in Kent and Kathy McNair’s house, to dream and plan for a new Episcopal Church in El Dorado County. Soon a store front was secured and Faith Episcopal Church was born, on Easter Sunday 1992, as a Mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California. On March 16, 2001, Faith Church became a Parish of the same Diocese. After 11 years in the store front, and after much sacrifice and effort, in 2003 our first building was built on our present 10 acre site on Country Club Drive. As we are able, our future plans are to build a Christian Education building, a Chapel, and one day, a beautiful church building.

Clergy who have served at Faith Church: Fr. Kent McNair served as Vicar of Faith Church from 1991 – 2001 and from 2001 – 2012 he was Rector of Faith Church. In 1999 Fr. Charlie Karoly was hired as a part-time Associate Rector. Fr. Karoly’s civil engineering knowledge was a huge asset in overseeing the building of our current church. Fr. Karoly served at Faith Church until his death in 2007. In 2001 Pastor Liz Armstrong was hired part-time to head up our youth program, small group ministry and other general duties of a priest. Pastor Liz served Faith Church until 2011 as Assistant Rector.  Fr. Sean Cox was the Rector at Faith Church from 2012 – 2019.  Rev. Sonya Reichel  began as our Assistant Rector in 2018.

Currently, the Rev. Liz Armstrong is back serving as the Interim Rector, during this time of transition.
