Youth... Pre-School to Teen Groups

We welcome and embrace children in our community.  We are energized when they dance to the beat of the closing song in worship.  We provide them with loving and caring Sunday school teachers and Youth Group leaders.  They are given the opportunity play a role in our worship, to participate in outreach, to develop their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The nurturing of children and families is important at Faith Church.

NURSERY

On Sunday mornings, children from newborn up to age 2 are cared for by trained childcare providers.  An adult volunteer is also present.  There is a call system to alert parents during the worship service if their child needs them to return to the nursery.  Children in the nursery may stay until the end of the service.  Nursery and preschool care is also offered at our Wednesday evening study groups and for special events as announced.

JUNIOR PRESCHOOL

Our Sunday morning Preschool staff is dedicated to showing 2 –4 year olds that “God is love”. Adult volunteers and paid childcare workers provide a warm and caring environment. Children in Junior Preschool are checked in before worship begins and may stay until the service ends. There is a call system to alert parents if their child needs them.

SENIOR PRESCHOOL

Our class for children from age 4 through kindergarten learns about the God of the Bible and explores their relationship to God through various guided activities, including arts and crafts, circle time, music, Bible story presentation, prayer and free play.  Our teachers are supported by an assistant. Class begins when the church service begins; children are picked up by their parent for Communion.

CHILDREN’S CHAPEL

Offered during our Sunday morning services, our Children’s Chapel program is for children in grades 1-5.  We provide two classes, with different curriculums. Children are excused from the worship service before the reading of the lessons and return at the time of Communion.

First and Second Grade Class

The focus of this class is on the children becoming familiar with the major themes and events of the Bible.  This is done in a fun and interactive way using Scripture reading, discussion, colorful visual aids, games, arts and crafts, and group prayer.  The children learn how God can be a friend and source of guidance in their lives.

Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade Class

Children in this class learn the structure of the Bible and how to locate the book, chapter and verse of the day’s lesson.  Puppet skits, games, songs and crafts are all a part of their experience.  The children learn, through a familiarity with God’s actions in Scripture, to understand God’s nature and to develop their individual relationships with God.

JUNIOR HIGH (grades 6-8)

The curriculum used in this Sunday morning class is designed to address the life issues of younger teens, and helps them look to the Bible for guidance.  The studies are grouped into themes such as peer pressure, pop culture, friendships and Christian living.  The ultimate goal is that youth will become more fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ.

CHILDREN’S SPECIAL EVENTS

The Children’s Special Events programs include the events which have become a tradition in our church.  The purpose of these events is to provide times of fellowship for our children; most activities are designed for those in grades   K-6.  Each event is made possible by a team of adult and teen volunteers.

  • Operation Christmas Child

  • Advent Wreath Making

  • Gingerbread House Party

  • Christmas Pageant

  • Easter Egg Hunt

YOUTH GROUP

Youth in grades 7 through 12 are invited to join in for food, fun, fellowship, and worship supported and led by a team of adult leaders.  At Sunday evening meetings the kids eat dinner together, and then divide into three groups for age-appropriate lessons using the Bible, workbooks, and activities.  Meetings close with a youth-led worship service with our youth band leading music.

  • Our service and outreach projects include:

  • Christmas Gift Buying Outreach

  • Senior Work Day Project

  • Sierra Service Project Mission Trip

  • Honduras Mission Trip

  • Search Retreats

  • Diocesan Youth Events

  • Super Bowl Sunday food ingathering

AFTER CHURCH ACTIVITIES

Cookies and juice are provided after both Sunday morning services.  Children up through Kindergarten age are invited to enjoy the playhouse and climbing toys in our enclosed play yard.  Toys for lawn play are provided the older children.  There is basketball playing area to the side of the church.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

For a week in early summer, Faith Church is transformed - into a remote island, the Serengeti, or even a Fiesta!  Our kids and their friends are off on an adventure of discovery of Jesus’ love.  The program is open to kids from age 3 through 5th grades, with opportunities for leadership for older kids and adults in these areas:  drama, music, games, arts and crafts, bible stories and snacks.
