YOUTH GROUP
Youth in grades 7 through 12 are invited to join in for food, fun, fellowship,
and worship supported and led by a team of adult leaders. At Sunday evening
meetings the kids eat dinner together, then divide into groups for
age-appropriate lessons using the Bible, workbooks, and activities. Meetings
close with a youth-led worship service with our youth band leading music. Our
service and outreach projects include:
-
Christmas Gift Buying Outreach
-
Senior Work Day Project
-

FISH (Friends In Seeking Him) Retreat

FISH is a three-day retreat held once a year in the fall for high school age
youth. It is an opportunity to look at yourself, your relationships with your
peers, and your relationship with God. FISH is a time for Christian fellowship.
The weekend is designed to help each participant with his or her Christian walk.
FISH is meant to promote active involvement in Christian living. Are you
seeking some answers about your relationship with Christ? FISH is open to youth
from all denominations. If you are in the 9th - 12th grade, FISH may be for
you.
NURSERY/JUNIOR PRESCHOOL
On Sunday mornings, children from newborn up through age 3 are cared for by
trained childcare providers, supervised by an adult staff member. There is a
call system to alert parents during the worship service if their child needs
them. Children in the nursery may stay until the end of the service. Nursery
and preschool care is also offered for special events as announced.
NURSING MOTHERS
Women looking for a quiet place to nurse their infants during the service are
invited to use the middle room of the church office. The room has comfortable
chairs and has been wired for sound so that the mothers can still listen in on
the service while they attend to their child.
PRE-K/K
In this class, children age 4 through kindergarten learn about the God of the
Bible and explore their relationship to God through various guided activities
including stories, arts and crafts, music, prayer and free play. Our teachers
are supported by an assistant. Class begins when the church service begins;
children are picked up by their parent for Communion.
CHILDREN’S CHAPEL
Children in grades 1-5 are excused from the worship service before the reading
of the lessons, and return at the time of Communion.
First and Second Grade Class
Bible lessons are presented in a fun and interactive way using stories, drama,
games and crafts. Each Sunday there is an easy-to-remember point of the day
about Jesus, and families are encouraged to later re-read together the
corresponding Bible story. This class is led by a team of two teachers.
Third,
Fourth and Fifth Grade Class
Children in this class learn the structure of the Bible and how to locate the
book, chapter and verse of the day’s lesson. Discussion time, puppet skits,
games, and projects are all a part of their experience. The children learn,
through a familiarity with God’s actions in Scripture, to understand God’s
nature and to develop their individual relationships with God.
JUNIOR HIGH (grades 6-8)
Students in this age group focus on applying the lessons of the Bible to their
daily lives. There is an emphasis on respect for self and for others, mutual
support and creating a place to ask the questions that are a part of spiritual
growth. The ultimate goal is that youth will become more fully devoted
disciples of Jesus Christ.
AFTER CHURCH ACTIVITIES
Cookies and juice are provided after morning services.
Children up through Kindergarten age are invited to enjoy the playhouse and
climbing toys in our enclosed play yard. Toys for lawn play are provided for
the older children. There is basketball playing area to the side of the church.
CHILDREN’S SPECIAL EVENTS
The purpose of these are to provide times of fellowship for our children; most
activities are designed for those in grades K-5. Each event is made possible by
a team of adult and teen volunteers. Past events include:
CHILD SAFETY
The safety of children during their church experience is very important to us.
All teachers are required to have been actively attending Faith Church for at
least six months, provide personal references, have a criminal background check,
and attend a training class on the awareness and prevention of child abuse. Our
church building has been designed with child safety and parent comfort in mind;
all our rooms have glass panels to the hallway. Parents are encouraged to drop
in and observe class at any time.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
For a week in early summer, Faith Church is transformed - past themes include
the Serengeti, a fiesta, and a southern bayou! Our kids and their friends are
off on an adventure of discovery of Jesus’ love. The program is open to kids
from age 4 through 5th grade, with opportunities for leadership for older kids
and adults in these areas: drama, music, games, arts and crafts, bible stories
and snacks.
